Heavy Winter Boots
When it comes to winter boots, I don’t mess around. Nothing is worse than having cold feet while you’re walking through the cold. Except maybe a cold head or hands. Basically any part of your body that’s on the end. My solution? Heavy boots and L.L. Bean boots. I save the heavy boots, like Sorel, for the horrifyingly cold days because they’re kind of heavy to walk around in all the time. But if you get some lined L.L. Bean boots, your toes will still stay warm!
Once you have boots, you’ll need some thick boot socks for extra warmth. I usually wear fair isle socks, but also wear camp socks for the crazy cold days. Or if I want to have them poke out from my boots for a cute touch!
Long Puffer Coats
If you get nothing else, buy yourself a decent coat. Keeping your torso warm is absolutely essential. If your torso is wold the rest of your body quickly follows suit. I bought this one last year and it’s as good as any of the crazy good, expensive ones. Plus it’s on sale this year!
Scarves are necessary to keep your neck and face warm. As a singer and actor, this is a non-negotiable for me. I need to keep my neck and mouth area covered and warm so I don’t get sick. Or worse, a sore throat. Sore throats can last for weeks and it’s a miserable experience.
The Warmest Gloves
You gotta hands warm, y’all! I personally don’t wear super thick gloves because I have my hands in my pockets a lot. So they get warm if I’m wearing super heavy gloves. These are the newest version of Nordstrom’s cashmere glovesThese are the newest version of Nordstrom’s cashmere gloves that I love and wear almost every day, and they’re on sale!
Coffee and Tea Mugs
When you’re walking to work you need to keep your coffee or tea warm too! I like to carry my tea with me while I’m going to rehearsal and drinking it on the way. It keeps my throat warm and loose so I’m ready to go once I’m at work.
Hats and Earmuffs
Keeping the head warm is important. Once my heads gets cold it can be hard to warm up again. I prefer my hood or earmuffs, but if a pom pom hat is your vice, I say go for it!
Hands Free Totes
When you’re walking around you’ll want to keep your hands free. To shove in your pockets! Get a sturdy tote that will hold up against the weather. And will hold all of your stuff! I use my L.L Bean tote all year round and it’s the perfect tote for anything!
I wear leggings to rehearsal, class, and work. They’re comfy and I don’t have to change once I get to where I’m going. I prefer the athletic ones since I’m moving around a lot in class and rehearsal, but the other ones are great for less casual settings.
