For as long as I can remember, books have been a part of my life. Blame it on my mom being a teacher or the fact that both of my parents love reading. The one thing my mom insisted on when we built our house was a library. So I guess you could say that it was in my DNA to have a love for reading. But I definitely got lucky.
Reading has always been a staple for me. When I was a kid my mom would make me read for thirty minutes everyday in the summer and we could only watch two hours of TV a day. I also had to do math problems but that’s a different story that we can blame on my mom’s teaching past. Anyway, reading was a nonnegotiable in my house. You had to read to survive.
That sounds cryptic but I’m just being dramatic. Sure when I was younger I would try and get out of reading, but there were times when I couldn’t put a book down. I would get caught up in whatever I was reading and suddenly nothing else really seemed to matter. I read the final Harry Potter book in one weekend. Not to mention I read the first two Twilight books over Thanksgiving in high school, but let’s not dwell on that.
Books and reading transports you to another world and you have visit so many different places from your own home and mind. You have the freedom to let your mind run wild and create the world that’s written in your head from scratch. To me that’s the ultimate gift. The freedom to use your imagination
A good book is a great, and I love to enjoy these gifts and share them with others. Once I’ve read a book and I know that I’m not going to read it again, I either donate it or sell it to a resale book shop. I know, I know, I should just donate them, but hey I need some extra cash! Either way I hope that my books go to a good home.
My complete library is shown above (except for my plays that are on another shelf). I always love to share what I’m reading and hope that others do the same. In summation, I love to read so call me a bookworm. Or don’t, it’s a stupid term.
Wouldn’t a virtual book club be cool? Until that’s invented, check out what I’ve read so far this year here!
What’s your favorite book? What have you been reading lately that you love?!
