Anyone who knows me well knows I am obsessed with all things Kennedy: particularly Jack and Jackie. Jackie has been a role model to me since I was about twelve years old (her style is crafted from God.) Their life has always fascinated me, and no matter how much I learn or see about the Kennedys I always want to know and see more! I have done numerous research papers and art projects dedicated to Jacqueline, as well as read multiple books and watched movies and TV on her and JFK’s life. I personally love The Kennedys, a History Channel mini series (it’s available on Netflix!)
One such piece I picked up was Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with JFK. It is a tape/book set, and is a set of interviews of her with Arthur Schlesinger Jr., a friend of the Kennedys as well as a historian. A few months after JFK’s death they taped these interviews over a period of a few months, and she shared insights on the hidden side of their life. I listened to the tapes and loved every minute of it. Just listening to Jackie’s voice and hearing her tell stories (she even swears on occasion!) was so much fun to listen to. I felt like I was sitting in the room and I was swept away to the East Coast in her stories. This set came out a few years ago commemorating JFK’s presidency and there was a special on ABC (link).
