It’s fall y’all! Today marks the official first day of fall and I for one am stoked. Now I am a summer baby to my core but I am over the moon excited for fall this year. Maybe it’s the leaves or the pumpkins or fall in the city, but I am really pumped. Fall also means fun fall activities and I can’t wait to do them all! I’m even going to a fall themed party this weekend, so I’m glad I know people that love the season as much as I do.
As far as clothing goes, I rounded up the basics of what you’ll need for the season. Now of course I’m missing a few things: tights, loafers, etc. BUT I have a lot of great fall items for you to add to your closet for the most festive and cozy time of year! Cue the apple cider and pumpkin muffins.
Sweaters are a must for this season, escpeally in Chicago! I live in sweaters from November to late March (sometimes April or May…) For me nothing says classic sweater like a camel crewneck. It’s simple, classic, and quintessential fall. Shop all my favorite fall sweaters below!
Jeans are another staple for the season, and all year round of course! I have my favorite jeans listed below, perfect for tucking into boots or wearing with flats. I myself prefer loafers, but that’s just one preppies preference.
It’s going to get cold, and you’re going to need a jacket. You’re cold? Get a jacket. I suggest investing in two or three nice ones in a classic style. That way they’ll last for years and are bound to keep you warm.
Tweed is my favorite fall style. I always love pulling out all my tweed pieces. The wool can be scratchy, but look how cute! It’s just makes it all worth it, don’t you think?
Scarves are a cold weather must and a fall staple. Nothing is better than a plaid scarf on a crisp fall day. I have at least five and I love them so much so that it was my nickname for a brief period in fourth grade. Yeah it’s a dumb nickname that I definitely did not come up with. But fitting since I love scarves and was always wearing one!
Let’s talk for a moment about boots. Boots are the essence of fall. You need them to survive in Chicago for sure, but boots are universal. Booties, riding boots, rain boots, and even snow depending on the weather. You’ll need to decided what’s most important to you and stock up!
