Since summer is coming to a close (but not me! #postgradlife), so are my favorites of St. Louis series. I have shown the best of the city, or my favorite places to go in the city. So, for this last post I figured I’d do something bigger than my other posts. I will be doing the “Best of St. Louis” today. Some will be from old posts, but some places I haven’t shared yet. Here’s my ultimate list of favorite things to do, see, and eat in St. Louis!
Shopping around town – There are many neighborhoods and areas to do some great, local shopping. From the Central West End all the way to the outlet malls, there is something for everyone. Try Cherokee St. for vintage, Maplewood for fun food treats, The Loop for fun, eccentric shops, and there’s of course the malls as well.
Yucandu – Bring out your artsy side and spend an afternoon creating something at Yucandu. They have all kinds of canvases, wood pieces, and even bowling balls you can paint, decoupage, or mosaic. We have been going here for years and I always come home with something fun and one-of-a-kind for my room.
Bread Co. – Ahh, St. Louis Bread Co. Or Panera Bread for you out of towners. I love Bread Co. so much. I don’t care if it’s weird or stupid, I just love it. To me it symbolizes my entire childhood. From going to lunch and the library as a toddler, to stopping by all the time for an iced tea (some of the best, by the way.) BREAD CO. TILL I DIE.
Forest Park – Whether you’re going to the Zoo or a museum, Forest Park is the quintessential destination for all things summer and St. Louis. From Shakespeare in the Park to having a picnic at Turtle Park, this place is one of the best things about St. Louis.
The Muny – Growing up with the Muny was always such a treat. A tradition going 98 years strong, and they just finished the 98th season Sunday. You can always opt for the free seats in the back, or make your way to the front. No matter what, there’s not a bad seat in the house.
Italian Food – The Hill. If you missed my post on it, read it here. There are just so many amazing Italian restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores to gush over. If you can only make it to one? Go to Cunetto’s.
Drive In – Make the trip over to Belleville, Il for a night at the Skyview Drive-In. I can’t tell you how many nights I’ve spent here watching all the best summer blockbusters over the years. Many Harry Potter movies were seen here.
Gooey Butter Cake – A delicious, gooey treat. I love, love, love gooey butter cake. It’s a cross between a large pastry and a cheesecake of sorts. Super gooey, super sugary, super amazing. My favorite place to get gooey butter cake is at Gooey Louie or my mom’s of course.
Ted Drewe’s – The best of the best. My favorite place to get ice cream, -er frozen custard, ever. They will forever have the best Reese’s concrete in the world. And yes, it’s concrete. Not blizzard, not mix, not “candy mixed into your ice cream.” CONCRETE.
Cardinals Games – Nothing says summer and St. Louis like going to a Cardinals game. Not many things are better than a night in the city at the game. Watching the sunset and the Cards hopefully bring home a winner, Busch Stadium (both of them) holds a special place in my heart.
