I love donuts. So much. I mean I love all sweets but donuts and pastries are my favorites. My favorite flavor? Chocolate iced with sprinkles. What can I say I love the classics. What makes a good donut for me is it has some weight but it isn’t to heavy or greasy. The ones that taste like they’re baked are the best. There’s something about the light and fluffy dough that tastes so much better when it doesn’t taste so fried. The less fried ones are also chiller on my stomach so that’s a plus. My mom loves going around and trying new donut shops so I have been to quite a few places around here. St. Louis has lots of great donuts throughout the city, and lucky for you I have the best shops in town listed here!
Strange Donuts – The title doesn’t deceive you: their donuts are weird. They have tons of crazy flavors every day and they are oddly delicious. I had the one shown above a couple of weeks ago for the Fourth of July. It has fruit and whipped cream and was delicious! Definitely a great stop but they sell out early so go early in the morning or in the evening for their night hours.
Donut Drive In – We stop here all the time. They have great versions of the classics. I love their long johns and glazed. You really can’t go wrong with a glazed donut and they have some of the best. They have great hours and you can run in a grab a quick dozen while running errands. Take it fom someone whose done that more than once.
Pharoh’s Donuts – A fun place and fun donuts! Finding where to get into this shop is confusing but once you get inside you are in heaven. You can even smell the donuts hours after they’ve closed and wish they were open for you. The best donuts? The cream filled ones. They have the best filling and their long johns are again fantastic.
World’s Fair Doughnuts – A great, traditional donut shop. They are known for their fritters and they are so good. I love the fritters or plain donuts because their icing is awesome. This is a great, classic donut shop with no nonsense donuts. You get what you paid for and more because they are priced very well.
