If it’s one thing I love, it’s simplicity. Classic lines and cuts are part of my being and I love a simple, polished look. This brings in the basics: tees, sneakers, and everything in between. But where are you supposed to get all these fabulous basics from? Never fear, I have the best (and affordable) places to get you some fantastic basic pieces!
Tees and Tanks – When it comes to tees and tanks, you can never have too many. Okay well that’s not true but it’s important to have a good supply in your closet. I’d stick to neutrals first (black, navy, white) and build from there!
Button Downs – A classic and preppy must. A good button down can dress up anything with the simple buttoning of a shirt. Whether it’s tied or classic, you can’t go wrong with a well made button down.
Sneakers – Sneakers are the perfect basic. They can be dressed up or down (people wear them to black tie events now for crying out loud!) Sneakers are a must and it’s nice to have a few options. I have this pair and a pair of New Balances that I wear on rotation, but don’t count out the ever classic Converse!
Classic Jeans – A great pair of jeans can last you years and carry your closet. Jeans are an essential and yes I am saying this as a pants hater. BUT jeans are a staple and can really amp up your wardrobe! Investing in a few pairs of good, classic jeans will be a life saver, plus less jeans shopping for you! A few classic style to start with: the straight, the skinny, and the boyfriend (white jeans too if you find the right pair!)
Your Forever Bag – This one is the hardest of all and can take years, but a good bag will be worth the wait. I have one of two that I have had for years and will probably keep them for longer. It takes time, but it’s key to invest if you find the right one. The bag will pay for itself the longer you use it and care for it.
