As I was looking at my blog I realized something: I haven’t done much style on here this year! Sure I’ve done outfit posts but nothing other than that style wise. Which is the main focus of my blog! I don’t know where my head has been but it’s time to get it out of there.
And what better way to pull my head out than with a style centric post? So here we are today. I am sharing ten style books you need to read. I love reading and I love style so it’s a no brainer! These two go hand and hand. Plus the weather has started to cool off again so I’m going to curl up with one of these books today!
Grace: A Memoir – I read this book last fall and it’s a great read. The book is thick but it’s filled with stories about Grace Coddington’s life, particularly her work in fashion. She talks about it all and writes with, well, grace. There are also charming little drawings in between that she’s drawn which are so perfectly stylish.
Nasty Galaxy – So I read this whole thing in a day. A matter of hours actually. It’s so enthralling and there’s all kinds of stories, recipes, pictures, interviews, and everything in between. I love it, Sophia Amoruso’s writing is so honest and real, and it’s a great place for inspiration.
Paris Street Style – This one is pretty fun. They show real French women and ask them about their style, as well as talk about the French ideas on style. Great read, and if you love this one, then read Paris Street Style: Shoes too!
Pocket Iris Wisdom – This book is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a small book filled with quotes from the lovely Iris Apfel. There are quotes on everything and they are grouped into little sections. She talks about it all and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t laugh out loud at some of her best quotes. So great, honest, and funny!
Jackie and Cassini: A Fashion Love Affair – The ultimate book for Jackie lovers. This book talks about the relationship of Jackie Kennedy and Oleg Cassini during the White House years. The book goes into details about their time together and how influential Cassini was to fashion and how Jackie’s style swept the nation and world.
How to Be Parisian Wherever you Are – This book is pretty fun, I read it so quick! It covers everything from style to dating to kids, and
Front Row: Anna Wintour – This is about the life of Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue. The book goes into great detail about her life. And I mean her whole life. The book goes back to the beginning and is very thorough.
Coco Chanel: An Illustrated Biography – This book is a fun way to learn about Coco Chanel. There are illustrations as well as facts about Chanel and her life. Definitely knowledgable and such a cute little book!
Where’s Karl? A Fashion Forward Parody – Y’all this is Where’s Waldo? but with Karl Lagerfeld. It’s hilarious, and the details and illustrations are fabulous. I’ve tried to find them and I haven’t gotten them all. It’s kind of hard but totally fun!
Bad Girls Throughout History – This isn’t a style book per se, but it’s about stylish women throughout history so I thought it was worth mentioning. There’s little blurbs about famous, strong women throughout history with an illustration (I obviously love illustrations) of each woman as well. It’s a great little book to learn about some badass women and a great way to get some inspiration!
